Search Instructions

You may search our database of providers by specific services, geographic areas and optional keywords.

Step 1: Select a Service Category

To search for a particular type of service, select a service category in the left-hand "Service Category" listbox. (Only one category may be selected at a time). When you click on an item is this listbox, all services that are included in that category will appear in the "Services" listbox to the right.

Step 2: Select Individual Service(s)

You may select as many services from the right-hand "Services" listbox as you wish, but you must select at least one.  To select more than one service, hold down the "Ctrl" key as you click on items from the list. (The items in this listbox have tooltip text descriptions which can be viewed by hovering over the service names with your mouse).

Optional Step: Search By Keyword

You may also narrow your search by entering an optional word or words in the "Keyword(s)" textbox. To search on more than one word, type the words into the textbox separated by a space; do not use commas. For example:  alcohol elderly. For exact phrases, put quotation marks around the key phrase.  For example: "soup kitchen".

Step 3: Search By Area

You can further refine your search by geographic area.  First use the radio buttons in "Step 3" to select the type of area search you want to do.

The default search type is by "Region".  This option shows a map of Massachusetts divided into six separate areas.   The name of the region you click on will be displayed directly below the map, along with the list of services you've selected.

You can also search by a given radius from a particular zip code.  When you select this option, the map of Massachusetts is replaced by a textbox and a dropdown list.  Enter a Massachusetts 5-digit zip code into the textbox and then choose the number of miles around that zipcode that you would like to search.  For example, entering 01180 and choosing "5" from the dropdown list, will find programs that are located within  5 miles of 01880.

To search the entire state of Massachusetts, click the "Choose all of Massachusetts" radio button.

Step 4: Click "Search"

Before you run your search, you have a final option to narrow the results to include only programs that are funded by the Department of Public Health, Bureau of Substance Abuse.  To select this option, check the "Only show BSAS-funded programs" checkbox. 

Once you have specified all of your criteria, click the "search" button and your search results will be displayed. If you want to start over, click the "Clear Form" button and your search criteria will be cleared.
